The edition 'Carrera' is a collage-like artwork showing a large-scale slot car racing track placed in a room creating an image beyond space and time. This painterly research often reveals overlapping connections of subject, culture, and nature, and the viewer is allowed to become part of this fictional narrative.
Berlin-based artist Jonathan Esperester uses the medium of painting analogously to memory. For inspiration, he draws on his private photo archive and extracts motifs from their original environment and chronology. Through this collage-like branching, anachronistic constellations and unknown history emerge, beyond space and time. This painterly research often reveals overlapping connections of subject, culture, and nature, and the viewer is allowed to become part of this fictional narrative. He paints and draws with oil and acrylic paints, varnishes, colored pencils and charcoal. Esperester is a modern storyteller with classical painting.
Each edition will be individualized by the artist himself, silver plating with silver leaf at the disco ball and using silver paint on the slot car racing track. Sometimes there is also a Carrera car added.
The frame is natural ayous wood with acrylic glass that has 84% UV protection. Framed dimensions are 63 x 83 cm; 24 4/5 x 32 2/3 in.
