With her series of photographs L’ORIGINE DU MONDE, Kirsten Becken sketches a feminist homage to Gustave Coubert's scandalous painting  from 1866. She plays with nudity and creates political images that are Instagrammable and cleverly circumvent the omnipresent censorship. In her interest lies a new self-evidence of overpowering femininity, in the everyday and in the particular.
