“This work is part of my ongoing series about transitory spaces, or „non-places“. Spaces of a globalised world that people only pass through and without individual identity. Hotel rooms, waiting rooms, airport halls or train compartments - uniform places where one is thrown back on oneself. What kind of presence does a space that exists in between destinations give to a person? What kind of freedom does anonymity give us? How are we thrown back on ourselves in a place like that and what is our memory of it? What is a person in transit longing for and what does that say about us?” – Annabell Häfner
