David Lamelas attended documenta 5 in 1972 at the department "Individuelle Mythologien" and again at documenta 14.

David Lamelas' work "Antwerp-Brussels (People and Time)" originated in the year 1969 and distinctively revolves around topics about time and space. David Lamelas is concerned with the question of the limits of art's temporality and its possibilities for generating alternative processes of communication and cognition.

David Lamelas is a key figure of conceptual art and experimental film with his nomadic practice comprising film and video, performance, photography, sculpture, installation and drawing. Lamelas' works are as pioneering as they are complex, eluding tidy categorization. The artist focuses on the viewer's own perception and critically assess mechanisms of cultural production. Central to Lamelas's oeuvre is the notion of time and people's accession to it.
