Hans-Peter Feldmann participated at documenta 5 (1972) and documenta 6 (1977).

With the sculpture "David," which is made of plaster, Feldmann creates a replica of Michelangelo's famous work with the same name. However, while the latter is made of high-quality marble, Feldmann's David is made of epoxy resin and painted with bright colours, thus transferring it to a less sublime context.

Hans-Peter Feldmann sees himself as a chronologist of the daily life. He often resorts to visual references that are known by their collective character. In doing so, he deals with existing patterns of perception in art and society and renegotiates them. Feldmann is best known for his photographs but has worked with a variety of media.
