Signed and dated on the reverse

One of her main themes is the female perspective on social symbols. This she made very subtle and humorous since the beginning of her career and therefore, for example, nailed hotplates to the wall as a painting at an early age.

Since the 80s she has been working with wool on canvas, partly machine-knitted, partly hand-knitted and sees this as a reference to painting and handicraft. Of course, knitted pictures are not exactly what you imagine classical painting to be, but it is your interpretation of it. The wool thread pictures have been around for about 20 years, in our case in 2013.

On the one hand she samples herself with it, on the other hand she also quotes art history, minimalism and color field painting, both of which are very male-dominated fields. The wool thread pictures are thus a further development of her own work. They were last exhibited in Bregenz at Trockel's impressive work show.
