"Rosy Gloom" belongs to the series of works that Burn created for her first solo exhibition at Eve Leibe Gallery in London in Spring 2022. In this series, she explored topics of motherhood, protection and freedom. The warmth radiating from the color scheme of this artwork emphasizes the loving relationship between the torso and the cradled kitten in their arms. However, the unnatural pink hue makes it seem as though the viewer looks up the scene through rose-tinted glasses, evoking the question of how close the figures’ relationship really is.

Seline Burn (born 1995) is an artist based in Basel, Switzerland. Her painting, which draws influences from Symbolism, conjures evocative images where intimacy and radical strangeness are delicately balanced in a practice that she understands as an on-going personal diary.

This work is in excellent condition with no discernible condition issues. Detailed condition report available upon request.
