Tue Greenfort participated at documenta 13 in 2012.

"Nachhaltigkeit" represents a reproduction on glass of an illustration from the book "Sylvicultura Oeconomica" by Hans Carl von Carlowitz from 1732. In his book, the author writes about issues of sustainability and the proper cultivation of trees as well as the management of forests. The book's frontispiece, shown here, uses several small images to illustrate a sustainable use of the forest (right) and contrasts it with the uncontrolled use of nature (left). By referring to one of the oldest books regarding the discourse of sustainability, Tue Greenfort invites the viewer to critically engage with this topic, which has not lost its importance in the light of the ongoing climate change.

The Danish artist Tue Greenfort is considered one of the most important contemporary artists and is best known for his spatial installations. His work focuses on questions about the connection between ecology, economy, and society. Greenfort often takes a critical look at the concept of nature as a cultural construct and examines phenomena of its appropriation and destruction.

This work is in excellent condition with no discernible condition issues. Detailed condition report available upon request.
