CURATED: ANNA DART

Anna Dart is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and futurist who focuses on promoting ecological, cultural, and social sustainability through the intersection of new technologies. Her art is known for its minimal style and powerful expressiveness that reflects digital humanism. 

A guest artist at The Picasso Museum and at digital fashion house The Fabricant, Dart bridges traditional art and the Metaverse, finding inspiration in drama, dance, and the architecture of Antoni Gaudí. She has turned her passion for Surrealism into the engine behind the collaborative project Exquisite Workers, promoting co-creation, female empowerment, and artistic patronage since 2020. 

In 2021, Dart curated the first NFT exhibition at the UN. In 2022, she was nominated as the Best Traditional Artist turned NFT Artist at NFT.NYC. In the same year, she won the 1st Claire Silver AI Contest. This led to her exhibiting at prestigious events such as Art Basel Miami, NFT Korea Festival, and NFT Paris with SuperChief NFT Gallery.

The series NOCTAMBULANCE by Anna Dart invites viewers to explore the profound interplay of magic, fragility, vulnerability, and dreams as fundamental truths of our existence. Through the expression of AI, the series taps into something deeply human and authentic, evoking a sense of reminiscence. Dreams, being highly personal and subjective experiences, are now intersected by the intrusion of AI, a new frontier for humanity. The series celebrates the beauty of emotions intertwined with the realms of sleep and remembering dreams, serving as an invitation to embrace the in-betweens and revel in the subtle vibrations of life.

NOCTAMBULANCE by Anna Dart is part of the exhibition RECOLLECTION. AI AND MEMORY presented by EXPANDED.ART in collaboration with The NFT Gallery at their galleries in New York and London, 11 April – 13 May 2023. 19 artists explore the idea of further challenging the concreteness of human memory—personal or collective—through creative collaboration with AI. Memories are nebulous. Scientific studies and phenomena such as "The Mandela Effect" have shown that humans rarely recall things in their unbiased exactitude. Artificial Intelligence already assists human memory in the form of predictive text and GPS navigation. One would surmise that there exists a role for AI when it comes to supplementing even more complex memory.
