TRAVIS LEROY SOUTHWORTH

Travis LeRoy Southworth (b. 1979, Honolulu, Hawaii) is a conceptual artist working in Digital Media since the late 1990s. His work extends through Post-Internet and touches on aspects of computerized labor and self-perception in the age of image manipulation and social media. In 2017, Southworth began researching blockchain technology along with machine learning. He contributed to beta-testing SuperRare and Playform, an early website allowing artists to use artificial intelligence imagining tools.

Southworth has had solo exhibitions at prominent venues such as Below Grand NYC, Undercurrent, Freight + Volume, and Mixed Greens. He has been included in group exhibitions for institutions such as Zurich Kunsthalle, The Museum of Contemporary Digital Art and The Bronx Museum of the Arts. His work has been written about in the publications such as the New York Times, Artsy, Basler Zeitung, and Art Slant. He received a Fellowship in Photography from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and a residency in Switzerland that involved a project with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

Southworth holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from the University of Arizona.
