ABOUT THE WORK
In THE SWING by Claudia Hart, a Rococo-styled 3D avatar of a woman—all blush-pink with rosy cheeks—swings back and forth in the frame, bookended by a pair of trees that slowly shed their leaves. The vibe is melancholic and dilated, conjuring a sense of oblivion that feels peaceful in its certainty.
Her wooded surroundings ebb and flow at different rate, imitating stop-motion. Years pass in a matter of moments. The avatar is the driver of all of these cycles, but a driver scarcely in control; instead, she is Mother Nature heading straight for what she suspects might be oblivion.
Sound by Kurt Hentschlager, using an appropriated music box.
